T. S. Eliot, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature and widely honored for his poetry, criticism, essays, and plays, has had a profound influence on literature since the appearance of his first and instantly famous work, "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock," in 1917. From there, the twentieth-century poetic revolution took hold, and Eliot continued to lead the way. Selected Poems brings together much of Eliot's best-known poetry-some of the most celebrated verse in modern literature-including "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock," "Gerontion," "Whispers of Immortality," "The Waste Land," and "The Hollow Men." (less)
