Organized by the three genres, this accessible "encyclopedia" presents the licks in modular form as short melodic fragments, which can be reconfigured into endless combinations. Players learn how to extract dozens of rhythmic and melodic variations from each example, and how to use each lick over different chords. All the licks can be mixed and matched into longer improvisations, opening the door to jazz for blues and rock players, helping jazz players acquire blues and rock authenticity, and inspiring all guitarists to create their own licks.
