This is the result of a project to read and record every legible grave marker in Knox County, which was begun in 1957 by members on the Knox County Historical Society and continued, since 1978, by the Knox County Genealogical Society. The first volume contains readings from 173 cemeteries in 22 townships, while the second volume is intended to contain readings from the remaining two cemeteries: two large cemeteries adjacent to each other in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
